Health Facts About Original Bacitraycin Plus®

Bacitracin

Bacitracin was isolated by Dr. John T. Goorley in 1945 from a patient named Tracy. He found that it was effective as a topical antibiotic preparation. Dr. Goorley named it “bacitracin” after the patient.

Bacitracin was approved by the FDA in 1948. Today, Original Bacitraycin Plus® and Maximum Strength Bacitraycin Plus® (both with Moisturizing Aloe) are the only nationally distributed brands of bacitracin single-antibiotic ointment in the U.S. market.

Tattoo Aftercare

Original Bacitraycin Plus® is a popular antibiotic for tattoo aftercare. It is preferred over topical combination antibiotic products such as Polysporin®, Neosporin®, and Triple Antibiotic. This is because it has fewer antibiotic ingredients, lowering the risk of allergic reactions.

Infections

When microscopic parasites or bacteria attack open wounds, burns, or scrapes on the skin., an infection may occur. Apart from being painful, an infection can lead to complications. Applying Original Bacitraycin Plus® to the affected area can help protect the wound from infection.
